Summary

The Floater at Church Childcare Center provides essential support to help the center open each morning and ensure children are welcomed into a safe, nurturing environment. This position primarily assists with our 2-year-old classroom during morning hours until all staff arrive. In addition, the Floater is expected to remain flexible and prepared to step into other classrooms and roles throughout the day as needed, supporting our commitment to quality care and education in alignment with Christian values.

Key Responsibilities

Center Opening & 2-Year-Old Classroom Support

  • Assist with opening the childcare center each morning to ensure a smooth start to the day.

  • Provide direct support in the 2-year-old classroom until full staff coverage is in place.

  • Help with morning routines such as classroom setup, snack preparation, supervision, and transitions.

Floating Assignments

  • Remain available to support other classrooms and age groups beyond the morning shift as needed.

  • Adapt quickly to changing assignments and responsibilities based on daily operations.

  • Collaborate with a variety of teachers and staff across multiple classrooms.

Child Supervision and Safety

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all children in your care.

  • Monitor and guide children’s behavior using positive communication and redirection strategies.

  • Report any safety concerns promptly to administration or lead staff.

Communication and Team Collaboration

  • Maintain professional communication with teachers, administrators, and families.

  • Work as part of a team to keep routines consistent across classrooms.

  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.

Policies and Compliance

  • Follow all Church Childcare Center policies and procedures.

  • Comply with state licensing regulations and complete required training and certifications.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the center.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or North Carolina Early Childhood Credential required.

  • Previous childcare or early education experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of child development and a passion for supporting children’s growth.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to assist in multiple classrooms.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift, bend, kneel, push, and carry children up to 50 lbs.

  • Successful completion of background checks and screenings as required by state law.
